It also aired on Cartoon Network as part of the Toonami block. Leisure Concepts which helped co-develop the show acted as a licensing agent for the series. had the rights to the series (and all Lorimar-Telepictures programming) from that point on. In 1989, Lorimar-Telepictures was purchased by and folded into Warner Bros., whose television syndication arm would eventually assume distribution of the show Warner Bros. The series was originally distributed by Rankin/Bass' then-parent company Telepictures Corporation, which would later merge with Lorimar Productions in 1986. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 each contained twenty episodes, starting with a five-part story. Season 1 of the show aired in 1985, consisting of 65 episodes in 1986. The studio was acquired in 1989 to form Walt Disney Animation Japan. ThunderCats is an American science fantasy animated television series that was produced by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment and Leisure Concepts debuting in 1985, based on the characters created by Ted "Tobin" Wolf. As a character/person he is still being forged, and doing so at a perfectly admirable rate.Īnd Tygra not arrogant and egoistical? Seriously? The man more or less bled arrogance in the first few episodes, slowly softening mostly because the Cats are now the hunted rather than the superior he believes them to be.Pacific Animation Corporation (seasons 2–4) So I understand Lion-O overall lack of attention in regards to royal matters and his tendency to act somewhat childish and immature.Īt least in those moments he can be himself.īut since then he has taken things more or less seriously and is showing the willingness to learn and take those lessons to heart. ![]() Whereas Lion-O would be expected to succeed before he even began. If Tygra should have failed something, if would not be the end of the world. Despite this they were somehow still treated as equals and yet not. Lion-O has had the weight of an entire legacy drowning him all his life, while Tygra has been given free reign to be exactly who he wants to be. That episode needed to be 2-3 or given much more "lead up" information. Though this thundercats has an overarching plot.well if you thought last episode was super awesome, thats you but personally i thought it answered very little and only sets up part 2 of the quest. They play opposites more than different personalities, often standing together or bickering at random moments. For example one episode has Tygra saying "look man find the book of omens and not die rushing after mum-ra" and another episode he goes "look lion-o turn your cowardly lion ass around and suicide into those fools". Cheetra just looks weird to me, the rivarly between Tygra and lion-o has its downs more than ups. Yes i can watch it and look forward to episodes but thats cause its made with same of todays tv tropes and sensibilities, unlike the 80s version. The current version is a trade up, but by how many decimals i don't know. If it wasn't for the corny music and dialogue i'd sit through it. The surprisingly crisp animation given its the 80s. Being not a big fan of the original thundercats, i do like the feel and style. ![]()
